What's My Approach to Therapy?
I understand that each of us experiences our daily struggles in many different ways, and there is no "one" correct way to approach resolving these difficulties. I work with my clients to meet them where they are on their path to better mental health and well-being. Whether you are new to therapy, have utilized it before, or even feel burned out by it, I will work to make your experience as comfortable as possible for you.
I prefer to use an eclectic approach, pulling from many modalities and theories. I often use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in my practice. With cognitive behavioral therapy, we explore how our thoughts affect how we feel. We will work on realizing what these thoughts are and how to counter them. I feel it is important for us to learn about how we experience our symptoms and how our experiences affect us. I also utilize systems theory and assist in understanding how our environments influence us.
My Practice & Services
Hello! I work with a broad range of clients from many backgrounds and cultures. I have assisted clients in coping with a broad range of mental health needs: anxiety, depression, anger control, and family issues (blended family experience!). My professional experience that brings strength to my current practice includes working as a behavioral specialist consultant and a family-based therapist. I have also performed as a counselor at long-term inpatient facilities, and spent a year working as a drug and alcohol counselor. I currently work as a mental health outpatient therapist.
I have a multitude of experiences and knowledge in assisting clients with anxiety conditions and histories involving trauma. I currently pull from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), experience in working with trauma, and person-centered and solution-focused therapy methods. I will work to meet you where you are, and respect your expertise on yourself.
Whether you are new to therapy or finding a new therapist, I am willing to work with you. I am empathetic to my clients' personal needs and experiences, and I believe every person has challenges that are very real to them. I understand the difficulty one can experience when opening up about dark moments in your life. We will start where you are comfortable.
