My Approach to Helping
I completed my undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois. I immediately began working in the mental health field as a school social worker through a non-profit agency and within police stations and the court system as a domestic violence advocate. While working full time, I completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University. I then went on to work at one of the very first settlement houses founded in Chicago, the Association House of Chicago. During my years there, I initially provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults and children who have mental illnesses while also developing programs and groups that addressed co-occurring disorders and grief and loss. In 2008, when I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I began managing the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and Community Support Team (CST) treatment programs for those with severe mental illness who cannot care for their basic needs. Hence, they needed a wraparound model to stay safe and healthy.
I joined the Insight Behavioral Health family in 2011 as the Director of Compliance and Co-Director of the Transitional Living Apartments, where I was able to use my clinical and policy building skills to help patients struggling with mood and anxiety as eating disorders. Following the merger with Eating Recovery Center, I was promoted to the position of Admissions Director, assisting with the hiring, training, and policy implementation in the Admissions Department for all of the ERC and Pathlight Locations while also managing Clinical Assessment staff and continuing to see clients.
I have been working in the mental health field for 20 years within the school, legal, residential, non-profit, and for-profit sectors with children and adults who have a mental illnesses. I am very passionate about helping people change their lives and assisting them in understanding that we all need help at some point, so there should be no shame or distress in seeking out healing. I want to support others navigate the journey to wholeness and joy while showing up as a human and a proponent for change and growth.
