My Approach to Helping
My ideal client presents with past trauma (none specified). Their desire to come to terms with the trauma that has occurred, recognize the ways it is impacting their current life (physically, emotionally, mentally) and learn ways to independently move forward in a healthy manner. They wish to incorporate friends and family into their healing as they feel their social life has difficulty blossoming due to their past. They wish to be able to discuss their trauma with those who they care about and who care about them.
My years as a teacher and counselor have given me experience in working with different family dynamics. I have counseled parents and children through healthy interactions, creating safe spaces for openness and empathy. Throughout graduate school I specialized in child trauma, utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) often with clients.
Life is difficult. Anyone who says otherwise is not being honest. We each have our own, personal life to live and that comes with personal challenges. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to move through what happened yesterday while developing the tools to be able to respond to what tomorrow has to bring.
