My Approach to Helping
As a Licensed Professional Counselor for many years, I am continually inspired by the transformative moment that happens in the counseling process. There is a sacredness in being present to another as a guide on this journey we call life. Whether it is exploring inner resources for healing and growth or the possibilities for deep and lasting change, it is an honor to work with people that are desiring a better way to be themselves in the world. My own journey has taught me that being truly present and engaged allows space for the unknown to be revealed, acknowledged, and eventually integrated into the service of the whole self. I weave together various mind-body modalities to create opportunities for you to step into the experience of your own sense of well-being, wisdom, and inner trust.
I am a Fellow and Primary Trainer of the Association for Music and Imagery and faculty of the Atlantis Institute for Consciousness and Music. The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music is the heart of my depth oriented approach. I have specialized training in the other modalities integrated into the therapy, including the MARI & Mandala and Mindfulness Meditation. Also, I am a Registered Trainer and Acu-Detox Specialist of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.
In providing an affirming space for all clients, I also have expertise in working with LGBTQ persons, those in recovery, spiritual and religious questioners, and writers, artists, and musicians. Mary Oliver wrote in the poem “Wild Geese”: “Meanwhile, the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting — over and over announcing your place in the family of things.”
If you are looking for a place to come home to yourself, I invite you to email or call to schedule an initial appointment.
