What's My Approach to Therapy?

If you’re here, you may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying more than you should have had to carry for so long. You might know that your past still affects you, even if you don’t always have words for it. If parts of you feel guarded, numb, anxious, or constantly on edge, you’re not broken—your system learned how to survive.

I’m Ashlyn Wall, a Licensed Professional Counselor–Associate, and I help individuals who have experienced complex and relational trauma find steadiness, safety, and a deeper sense of self-trust. I work with people healing from childhood abuse or neglect, sexual trauma, domestic violence, and other painful relational experiences that continue to show up in the present.

When we work together, I move at your pace. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in safety. I pay close attention not only to what you say, but to what your body and nervous system may be communicating as well. Together, we work to understand how your experiences shaped you, and how to gently loosen patterns that no longer serve you.

My approach is trauma-informed and holistic, recognizing that healing involves your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and nervous system. Anxiety, depression, dissociation, or relationship struggles often make sense in the context of what you’ve lived through, and we hold all of that with care, rather than judgment.

Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, and easy to talk to. At times our work may include grief or difficult emotions; at other times, there may be relief, insight, or even moments of lightness. Whatever shows up, you will be met with respect, curiosity, and compassion.

I also offer faith-based integration for those who desire it, always guided by your comfort level and beliefs. This is optional, and never imposed.

You don’t have to keep surviving alone. Healing is possible, and you deserve support that honors both your story and your strength.

My Practice & Services

I currently offer telehealth therapy to clients located in Texas. Sessions are held through a secure, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant platform and are available for adolescents (12 years and older) and adults. Telehealth enables flexibility and accessibility while providing meaningful, relational, and trauma-informed care.

My practice is centered on individual therapy, with availability for trauma-informed couples or relationship counseling when appropriate. I am thoughtful about fit and pacing, particularly for relational work, and will always prioritize safety, consent, and clarity around goals.

I work collaboratively with clients and value transparency around the therapy process. This includes clear communication about expectations, boundaries, scheduling, and fees. Therapy is not rushed or one-size-fits-all; instead, it is tailored to your needs, readiness, and capacity.

While my primary focus is therapy, I may also offer consultation or psychoeducational support on a limited basis. At this time, I do not offer groups, workshops, or retreats, though these may be added in the future as the practice grows.

Faith-based integration is available for clients who desire it and is always guided by the client’s belief system, comfort level, and consent. This is optional, and never assumed.

If you’re unsure whether we would be a good fit, I welcome initial questions and believe that finding the right therapeutic relationship is an important part of the healing process.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

When you?ve lived through trauma or long-term stress, your reactions often make sense- even if they feel confusing or frustrating now. You may find yourself feeling anxious, shut down, hyper-aware, disconnected from others, or stuck in patterns you don?t fully understand. Psychotherapy offers a space to slow down and begin making sense of these experiences with support.

Therapy can help you understand how your past has shaped the way your mind, body, and nervous system respond to the world. Instead of trying to ?push through? or fix yourself, we focus on building safety, awareness, and choice. Over time, this can help reduce overwhelm, increase emotional regulation, and create more flexibility in how you relate to yourself and others.

In our work together, psychotherapy may help you:
- develop a greater sense of safety and stability
- understand and soften trauma-based patterns
- reduce shame and self-blame
- reconnect with your emotions and body in a manageable way
- strengthen boundaries and relationships
- move out of survival mode and toward a more grounded way of living

Healing is not about erasing the past or forcing change before you?re ready. It?s about creating space for understanding, compassion, and growth at a pace that respects you. Psychotherapy can be a place where you don?t have to carry everything alone- and where meaningful change becomes possible over time.
