What's My Approach to Therapy?
Have you ever thought to yourself, "I shouldn't feel this way; it doesn't make sense?" You are not alone. Often, we try to use rational thinking to understand emotional distress. My clients' goals are often to understand the feelings that are not logical or rational. Many have survived specific traumatic events or those that accumulate over the course of a life. I specialize in trauma, substance use issues, and obsessive-compulsive challenges, working with teens and adults.
As a therapist trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and certified in exposure and response prevention (ERP), I work closely with those struggling with troubling emotions, which interfere in day-to-day life. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) are evidence-based interventions. EMDR has been proven to help with traumatic experiences and other troubling life events, and ERP successfully treats obsessive-compulsive challenges.
Whether you’re new to therapy or a seasoned veteran like me, I believe successful therapy begins with a strong therapeutic alliance. For me, that foundation is built on understanding not only your experience, but how you perceive and carry it in your life. At Whispering Willows, we offer a tiered payment experience to best meet the needs of our clients.
