My approach is collaborative and person-centered. I want to help you to be the best version of yourself and a storyteller. I believe we all have the ability to heal, grow, and build resilience. Speaking from experience, I know that asking for help can be daunting, and sometimes scary, but we all deserve to be heard. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe space for you to be vulnerable and work through challenges to enjoy the space between where you are and where you envision, with a little spice of humor in there, too!
I am an integral psychotherapist with thirty years of experience in private practice in NYC. I currently offer sessions via telehealth, and I am out-of-network insurance reimbursable. My approach is integrative and holistic, addressing mind, body, and spirit. My specialty is combining psychology and spirituality, utilizing Eastern and Western teachings. The emphasis is on compassion, joy, warmth, wisdom, peace, and love. My approach is supportive and positive.
Born in some respects from my wartime Military experiences, as well as from an amazingly dedicated and compassionate mother who has dedicated her life to others, my early influences have created a passion in me to help others. When they share their experiences in treatment, I feel humbled and invigorated and truly where I am supposed to be. My years of experience directing the largest State operated children's psychiatric outpatient program and supervising 70 professional staff have afforded me invaluable perspective as well. This exposure has also affords me extensive knowledge of community support systems, both Inpatient and Community based.
I collaborate with arts and helping professionals on a variety of issues, including: finding your voice in negotiation and relationships, getting creative projects and careers off the ground, identifying what's working in your life--and what's not--and how to change things for the better. I also work with issues around bereavement and loss. My training and approach combines psychodynamic, mindbody and mindfulness aspects. I have expertise in stress management (how to handle the present), trauma recovery (how to integrate the past) and creative breakthroughs and empowerment (how to build a future). When appropriate, I use EMDR, a proven method of symptom relief from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); meditation and breathing exercises and other techniques. Equally if not more important is how we fit together as a working team. I invite you to consult with me for one or two sessions and see if you'd like to work with me.

Finding the right therapist can be a very confusing and overwhelming process! On your initial visit, I will spend a generous amount of time with you on your presenting concerns and your goals for therapy. Having 16 years of experience, I can accurately assess the type of therapy that would be most useful for your specific situation. My specialty is Cognitive Behavior Therapy and I find most clients achieve significant progress with this approach. When you work with me, together we'll break down your patterns of thinking and behaviors that cause anxiety, depression, and hold you back from enjoying life. You will develop the skills to feel better and create positive change. Many clients find my style a "very refreshing" change from their former therapy. In couples therapy, I use a highly structured format that enables couples to communicate in a way they never have before. This new way of communication gets right to the core issues. My approach to couples therapy brings resolution to issues much faster than traditional therapy. I am available by phone to discuss any questions or concerns you have before beginning therapy.
The choice to begin therapy is a courageous one. I consider it a great privilege to partner with people as they work to improve various aspects of their lives. I provide a safe, empathetic, and warm environment to encourage exploration and personal growth. Everyone entering therapy has a unique set of goals; I work to meet those specific needs and desires through an eclectic approach of interpersonal, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement, PTSD, and substance abuse.
You may look successful, capable, and composed on the outside—yet privately feel anxious, self-doubting, or like an imposter. Many of the people I work with are outwardly high-functioning but internally feel stuck, disconnected, or quietly struggling. I work collaboratively as a co-pilot in the therapeutic process, helping you understand and shift long-standing emotional and relational patterns that quietly interfere with your work, relationships, and self-care. Painful or unmet experiences—past and present—often repeat themselves until they are understood. Therapy offers a place to slow these patterns down, make sense of them, and loosen their grip. My goal is to help you move beyond chronic self-criticism, emotional isolation, or feeling “not enough,” and toward greater self-trust, emotional resilience, and a more connected, fulfilling life. In addition to individual therapy, I am an experienced group psychotherapist. For over 30 years, I have worked with college-aged young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma (past and present), self-neglect, and self-sabotage. My areas of specialization include weight regulation and eating disorders, emotional fall out of GLP1’s women’s health concerns, and relationship and couples issues. Reaching out doesn’t commit you to therapy—it starts a conversation. Choosing the right therapist matters, and we’ll take time to see if this feels like the right fit.
I’m Francesca Wehr, LCSW, and I believe that healing is a collaborative process. Whether you're looking to manage triggers, improve emotional connection in your relationship, or better understand your experiences through psychoeducation, we’ll work together to develop strategies that support long-term healing. As a certified Nurtured Heart Parent Coach and NJ School Social Worker, I also support children, adolescents, and families in strengthening emotional regulation and communication. For couples, I incorporate the Gottman Method to break unhealthy patterns and create deeper, more fulfilling relationships. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
