Artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming a transformative force in mental healthcare, offering innovative tools and new approaches to clinical practice. However, for public providers and ethical clinicians, it’s essential to move beyond the buzzwords and marketing language to truly understand what AI can—and cannot—do.
This 2-hour continuing education workshop for therapists cuts through the hype to present a clear, evidence-informed overview of AI’s current role in mental health care. Dr. Glenda Clare will examine up-to-date scientific findings on the effectiveness of AI interventions across conditions like depression, anxiety, and crisis response. Alongside the science, Dr. Clare will take a hard look at the ethical and legal complexities, including algorithmic bias, data privacy concerns, transparency, and the critical importance of human oversight.
Participants will leave with practical tools to responsibly integrate conversational AI and large language models (LLMs), such as private GPTs, into their workflow—without compromising client safety, cultural responsiveness, or clinical ethics.
