Evidence-Based Holistic Strategies for Clinical Practice

Presented by Emma Donovan, LPC, BCHN® on 11-20-2025 at 9 a.m. Pacific (12 p.m. Eastern) to 10:30 a.m. Pacific (1:30 p.m. Eastern)

Clinicians and clients alike are yearning for greater meaning, wholeness, and sustainable healing. Interest in holistic therapy is rapidly growing, but many practitioners struggle to find training that bridges evidence-based clinical work with whole-person, scope-aligned care.

This 90-minute webinar offers a clear, research-informed foundation in holistic practice for mental health professionals. Participants will learn how holistic psychology differs from integrative, complementary, and alternative models, and will explore ten key domains of wellbeing that profoundly influence mental health. Clinicians will learn how to apply an evidence-based holistic wellness assessment tool to identify areas of imbalance and guide individualized interventions within their professional scope.

By the end, participants will feel equipped to weave holistic principles into their clinical work in a grounded, ethical, and research-informed way, feeling empowered to help clients move beyond symptom management toward deeper well-being and resilience.

This continuing education course is designed to help mental health professionals:

  1. Describe how holistic psychology aligns with evidence-based and scope-appropriate clinical practice.
  2. Identify ten key domains of holistic wellbeing that influence mental and emotional health, including their relevance to assessment and treatment planning.
  3. Apply an evidence-based holistic wellness assessment tool to evaluate clients’ wellbeing across multiple domains and inform individualized, whole-person interventions.

Statement of accuracy, utility, and most common risks: This program presents clinical and scientific information on evidence-based holistic approaches to mental health, integrating research from fields such as psychoneuroimmunology, lifestyle medicine, nutrition, sleep science, and stress physiology. The content reflects a synthesis of peer-reviewed research and established clinical frameworks relevant to licensed mental health professionals. The course is intended for clinicians seeking to incorporate holistic, whole-person strategies within their existing scope of practice. The program discusses practical ways to apply these approaches in a clinically responsible and evidence-informed manner; however, the presenter acknowledges that not all strategies will be appropriate for every client or clinical setting. A body of research supports the effectiveness and safety of these methods when applied appropriately. As with any intervention, misapplication outside one’s professional scope or without individualized assessment could lead to unintended outcomes.

Declaration identifying any potential conflict of interest and/or commercial support: No conflict of interest indicated.
