Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Applications and Effectiveness

Presented by Rebecca Kase, LCSW on 08-30-2019 at 9 a.m. Pacific (noon Eastern) to 11 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Eastern)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can be an amazing therapy, yet for some clinicians it remains mysterious. This web conference will attempt to answer many common questions clinicians often have about EMDR.

In this 2-hour continuing education web conference, Rebecca Kase, LCSW, an EMDR Basic Trainer and trauma expert, will discuss the basic tenets of this evidence-based therapy. Rebecca will explain EMDR’s 3-pronged protocol and the adaptive information processing model. She will also review the window of tolerance as it relates to EMDR and identify a number of clinical presentations which benefit from EMDR therapy.

Rebecca will review training requirements and important things to look for when selecting a training provider. She will also explain the key hypotheses supporting the effectiveness of eye movements, or bilateral stimulation, and show a recorded EMDR session.

This introductory instructional level web conference is designed to help clinicians:

  1. Describe at least two important aspects of the adaptive information processing system.
  2. List at least three clinical presentations that benefit from EMDR.
  3. Explain at least one supporting hypothesis for bilateral stimulation.
  4. Discuss the window of tolerance and its key principles.
  5. Assess relevant criteria when seeking out EMDR training.

Statement of program material's accuracy, utility, and risks: This training is provided in accordance with standards and ethics set forth by the EMDR International Association.
