As our understanding of loss evolves, so do our clinical frameworks. This 2-hour continuing education webinar for clinicians examines the shift from traditional grief stages to the new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR) diagnosis of Prolonged Grief Disorder. In this webinar, Clara Anderson Sainte, LCSW, LSCSW will cover diagnostic differences, contemporary grieving styles, and effective intervention strategies for Prolonged Grief Disorder.
This continuing education webinar is designed to help mental health clinicians:
Statement of accuracy, utility, and most common risks: This program presents research-informed clinical content related to grief and bereavement, grounded in established mental health best practices. The training is designed for mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of grief processes, challenge common assumptions and expectations about grieving, and enhance their ability to support clients navigating loss. No prior specialized training in grief counseling is required. The program emphasizes application of course concepts within professional scope of practice and promotes clinically responsible, culturally responsive, and ethical use of the strategies presented. While the research reviewed supports the clinical utility of these approaches when thoughtfully applied, the presenter acknowledges that grief is highly individualized. Not all strategies are appropriate for every client, population, or context, and clinical judgment is essential to avoid pathologizing or oversimplifying diverse grief responses.
Declaration identifying any potential conflict of interest and/or commercial support: No conflict of interest indicated.
