The most important elements of effectiveness in therapy are human and relational. In other words, finding a therapist that is warm, caring, empathetic, knowledgeable, and is able to interact with you in a way that is healing is going to be most effective in changing your life. My mission is to ensure that you have individualized treatment so that you don't feel like "just another client".

I have had success with LGBTQ adolescents who have struggled to accept themselves or have been bullied by those around them. I have also had great results with marital or couple issues that involve trust or communication concerns.

If you or someone you love struggle with addiction, my years of experience treating substance abuse can help you and your family. For more information, visit my website.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Therapy is a different experience for everyone. However, your therapist should be empathetic in their own therapeutic style. Therapy can be difficult emotionally, mentally, and (even) physically. Stick with it if you can but listen to your gut! Embarking on a journey of change can be hard but sticking with it will get the best results. Remember to talk with your therapist about any feelings of wanting to quit therapy, this may be helpful in your process. As for my personal therapeutic style: my goal is to engage you in change, empathy, challenge, and allow for introspection. I have been told that I am both challenging and engaging. Picking a therapist should be a carefully thought out decision. If you attend sessions with a therapist and feel as though you are not a good fit, be honest with your therapist about feeling this way. Many therapist have a network of other therapists they consult with and may be able to refer you to a colleague that fits your financial or insurance needs.
