My Approach to Helping

Life can be hard at times. Fortunately, there is hope. Suffering during these times can be optional. Helping people in the Omaha area achieve their personal goals through these times by sharing the tools with them to build a new and better normal is something I have enjoyed doing for nearly 20 years. I have had the privilege of working with people by addressing a variety of issues including substance abuse and other addictions, co-occurring disorders, various types of trauma, depression, anxiety, relationships, divorce, unresolved grief, co-dependency, and anger management to name a few. I am also on the approved provider list with Nebraska Criminal Justice System to complete court-ordered substance abuse evaluations. I help people by using a holistic approach and evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

More Info About My Practice

I conduct therapy sessions in a safe and confidential environment that is near mid-town Omaha. My office is next to the MAT bus line and is handicapped accessible. We also hold a SMART Recovery meeting every Thursday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. This is often seen as an alternative to 12 step meetings and takes more of a cognitivebehavioral therapy approach rather than a 12 step approach. However, this is not just limited to substance use, it can also be utilized for mental health problems as well.

My Role as a Therapist

As your therapist, one of the most important jobs I have is to create a therapeutic environment that facilitates positive change and growth. It is very important that the environment includes establishing a relationship built on trust, respect, acceptance, empathy, and collaboration. I am a person who is non-judgmental, genuinely engaged and authentic. Understanding your experience and perspective is always my top priority.
