I work collaboratively with children, families and individual adults to help them grow beyond old, dysfunctional relational patterns, to recognize behaviors that are no longer working and to explore new options for living. This exciting developmental process takes place in the context of a dynamic relationship we build together that frees your own healing process and creative energies. I enjoy working with people of all ages and utilize a client centered approach informed primarily by psychodynamic, attachment and relational theories. My goal is to empower you to feel more in control of your own life. I engage children in non-directive play therapy and often utilize sand tray work and expressive arts with both children and adults to augment their work.

More Info About My Practice

Recognizing that people in emotional crisis often are also experiencing financial difficulties, I have a sliding fee scale between $50 - $130 based on your income level at the time of our initial interview. Fee for an initial office consultation is $50. I accept major credit cards. I do not bill insurance companies directly but will provide a paid invoice for you to submit to your company for reimbursement.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have an extensive experience helping individuals suffering from substance abuse to find their path towards health and sobriety. This process requires courage and is not an easy one, sometimes involving relapse and discouragement. I work with people in a non-judgmental manner to help them understand relapse as a necessary step toward healing and to be curious about what they can learn from their experiences, both good and bad, in their journey towards recovery. I also help people navigate the painful waters of grief and loss. Finding the strength to carry on and learning ways to cope after losing someone close to you or something dear to you requires courage and is a difficult journey. I can facilitate your grieving process and help you find hope to envision a new future while at the same time acknowledging and honoring your loss.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

I enjoy helping children and families through times of transition and crises. Children react to distressing situations in their environment over which they have little or no control and play therapy gives them a symbolic language with which to express themselves. I help parents understand their child in this context and explore with them how to better meet both their own and their children's needs, providing emotional support and also practical information to help them meet the challenges of parenting.
