My Approach to Helping

Sometimes you can be in a room full of people yet feel completely alone. This feeling of isolation or lack of connection is often the core of depression and anxiety. Once these feelings take hold they can be a constant hindrance, keeping you from reaching your full potential. Often, we know in our hearts that we can excel, but self-doubt creeps in and sabotages our efforts which can keep us from reaching goals. We all have an inner-critic which can take hold though negative self-talk. For example, have you ever said to yourself, "I have no idea what I'm doing - I'm a fraud" or "If people really knew things about me they'd run in the other direction". This inner dialogue can be excruciatingly painful and can be damaging to our self-esteem when left unchecked. In some people this inner critic runs 247 and causes them to lose confidence and engage in behaviors that can compound their problems and make things even worse. I can help. Reaching out can be a hard thing to do, but I am here to support you in your time of need. I want to understand what you're going through. It is vital to have someone on your side, who can accept you unconditionally, who connects and empathizes with you, who offers you a safe place to talk about whatever you need to talk about. Maybe you feel lost and just need to clear your head. We are all different and unique, but I believe we all have the answers inside. Let me help you find your answers.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I often say to my clients that they are much closer to a solution than they think. Many people come into counseling feeling that there is no way to remedy a situation, or they have always struggled in a certain area and don't believe things will ever change. My belief is that people are incredibly resilient and intuitive, but can get so bogged down in their problems that it's hard to see anything else. There is a deep satisfaction in being able to help people find their truth or find solutions to their problems. I believe we all have the answers within, but most of us have not had an environment that gives us the opportunity to find these answers. When working with people, one of my goals is to create this safe space where they are able to connect with their inner-self and be guided by the wisdom they already possess. Everyone is an expert on themself, so part of my job is to help people find and develop trust in their inner resources. This is what I love about being a therapist - connecting with people and helping them connect with their inner power. Helping people work thought their problems and regain their confidence and self-esteem is a process that I am fortunate enough to be involved with as a profession.
