Are you struggling with life issues? Do you feel overwhelmed? Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? I can help. I tailor treatment to your specific needs - to de-stress, relax, grieve, get to know yourself and/or your partner better, or work on other issues.
One of my specialties is the treatment of trauma, including post-traumatic stress (PTSD), using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Many people do not realize the extent to which disturbing events from their past affect them now. Using specific protocols and processes that are well-researched, I am able to help people work through the memories of these events in ways that allow them feel better about themselves and live happier, healthier lives.
Another of my specialties is couples. Whether you are in need of a partnership "tune-up," are struggling to manage issues such as division of labor, parenting, in-laws, money, etc., or have decided to split and want help navigating the transition with dignity and respect, I meet couples where they are and give them a voice for their feelings. I partner with Denver's largest family law firm so clients are empowered to maintain a professional manner when dealing with the business of divorce because they are able to work out their many co-existing feelings in the privacy and confidentiality of my office.
I also specialize in addiction and co-dependency issues. In addition to experience with Colorado's largest addiction treatment network, I currently co-facilitate life skills, anger management, and DUI groups.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
Many issues require a lot of hard work to resolve and are too big for any person to resolve alone. A trained and experienced therapist can help with the most efficient and effective methods to resolution while under the protection of confidentiality. With couples, it can help to have a mediator who considers the relationship, rather than either partner individually, as the primary client. By approaching issues from this perspective, both partners can have their needs and feelings understood.
What Makes up a Problem?
What constitutes a problem for someone can be categorized two ways. First, is the issue causing you to have negative consequences in one or more areas of your life such as in your relationships (including the relationship you have with yourself), at work, financially, legally, etc? Second, as is the case for some people struggling with addiction, is the issue negatively impacting the people in your life? Think of a mobile that hangs over a baby's crib and each figure that hangs from the mobile is a member of a family or group. If one figure on the mobile is missing or perpetually altered, the mobile may still turn but unevenly and with undue strain on the supports of the other figures. Similarly, if one member struggles with addiction, the other members may accommodate as much of the strain and consequences as they can until they cannot any longer.
