My Approach to Helping

I believe that as we grow up in our families of origin, we begin to learn to cope in unhealthy ways that tend to follow us into adulthood. Looking at those coping mechanisms and fears that stem from childhood is important to finding the freedom to be who we want to be. I have been trained by Pia Mellody in Post Induction Therapy, which focuses on developmental immaturity (formerly called codependence) from childhood trauma. I am also trained in EMDR for dealing with any type of trauma or negative beliefs one may experience.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

All of us have grown up with imperfect parents. With the best of intentions, sometimes parents can only give so much, or have never been taught how to parent. Because of this, many of us have gone through various abuses, neglect, and/or trauma's in our family of origin. Looking at our past, our reactions, and our patterns can be very helpful for future relationships. In therapy we will work through negative messages you have adopted and believe about yourself and the world. Using either EMDR or Post Induction Therapy, we will replace those messages with nurturing and affirming messages.
