My Approach to Helping
Meeting with a counselor for the first time requires a lot of courage, so I have great respect for anyone who wants to take that first step. I strive to provide a non-judgmental space for you to identify your areas of strength and concern and ultimately what you hope to change. Our goal is to build awareness together, so that you can make different choices instead of automatically doing the same things that no longer work for you. We will work to help you pay greater attention to your mind and body processes and facilitate a deeper connection with yourself and others.

More Info About My Practice
I am not on any insurance panels, but if you have out-of-network benefits, we can bill for that. I offer sliding fee scales and often work with clients to achieve a balance between affordability and the greatest therapeutic benefits. I also offer free 20-minute phone consultations, if you would like to explore a future therapeutic relationship.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have worked with many clients to help them manage their anger response and become more aware of other feelings, thoughts and behaviors that accompany their anger. We identify how they would like to change some of these responses and then work toward those goals. We also often look at what is driving the anger, which typically involves much deeper, healing-oriented work. Looking at grief and loss is another area that I enjoy when working with clients. This is a very meaningful work, because it also involves examining what is important in the client's life and honoring these gifts. Again, healing is typically a goal within this work.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe that I am a facilitator, someone who helps to empower another. I also believe that all clients have the ability to build on some healthy patterns, unlearn unhealthy ones and create new patterns that feel empowering and satisfying. We work together to discover what feels like a good fit.
