The Convergence of Neuroscience and Mindfulness:
Insights and Practices that Improve Outcomes Presented by Terry Fralich, LCPC

Web Conference Description

In the late 1990's a dramatic paradigm took place in neuroscience regarding the ability of the brain to change. As a result of this "new "neuroscience," we have a much better view of what is happening in the brain when we get stuck in such negative emotions as anxiety, anger and depression -- and how we can work with these emotions in way that actually changes the brain. Mindfulness offers practical techniques and practices for working with these negative emotions. The convergence of neuroscience and mindfulness is a powerful combination driving change: neuroscience provides the view and mindfulness provides the path.
In this 90-minute telephone seminar, we explore the paradigm shift in neuroscience and its optimistic message about the brain's ability to change. In the process, we will consider the primary factors driving changes in the brain. We will then discuss specific mindfulness practices and techniques you can use right away to enhance clients' ability to nurture the healthy change they seek.
