My Approach to Helping
Do your desires not meet your expectations in important relationships? Is your relationship with a partner unfulfilling? Do you feel anxious in groups and withdraw into the background?
It is said, "No man is an island." From birth, human relationships shape a person's behavior. As the infant evolves from toddler to pre-adolescent and adolescence to adulthood, a dominant style of relating to others emerge. This style may serve one well in many circumstances. However, it may also be so rigid and deeply embedded in an individual that it does not allow one to engage others in a healthy manner.
An inter-relational therapeutic approach examines an individual's interactions with one's close contacts: the birth family, a spouse, potential partner, children, and work associates. Through one's relationship with the therapist, the client is empowered when given the opportunity to raise his awareness of how his relational style impacts his well-being.
At A Center for Creative Change, I work with adult individuals, couples and families, as well as children. My experience includes individuals with substance abuse issues providing the necessary support and strategies to take command of the stressful moments in your life.
More Info About My Practice
The relationship between the therapist and "other" is one of the most important factors that determine the success of therapy. Not all therapists match well with a particular individual. Depending on the life experience of the therapist, some are better suited to work with a certain population. To get a feel for how well we can work together, I will do a free 30 minute phone consultation so you may evaluate our fit for one another.
During these tough economic times, therapy may place an undue economic burden on an individual and his family. Therefore, depending on your particular situation, I have a put in place a sliding scale between $30 and $50 to hopefully help alleviate some of that burden.
