To qualify to become a GoodTherapy.org member an individual must:
- Be a Mental Health Professional (Mental Health Counselor, Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Marriage & Family Therapist, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Physician, or Nurse Practitioner)
- Have graduate level academic training and a degree in psychotherapy, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Be a licensed professional (or intern under the supervision of a licensed professional) or an unlicensed professional in a jurisdiction in which it is legal to practice counseling and psychotherapy without a license
- Agree that the services they provide accord to the 'Elements of Healthy Therapy Statement'
- Pass our peer-reviewed online application process (All applicants are reviewed within 24 hours of applying)
- Applicants with revoked or suspended licenses are not eligible for membership. Applicants who currently hold active licenses but have a history of revoked or suspended licenses may still be eligible for membership. In this case applicants will be asked to provide the review team with documentation and an explanation of the disciplinary action taken against them for further review.
