My Approach to Helping

It is my privilege to work as a counselor, to be trusted with the most personal of your concerns as you explore and examine whatever it may be that stands in the way of having the life you desire. My style, in my work and in my life, is forthright, grounded, honest and open. Therapy with me is often challenging, frequently lighthearted, and always, always supportive. I am relentlessly curious and I encourage you to be just as curious - about your emotions, your habits, your relationships, your "stuck points." One thing my clients will tell you is that I'm a stickler for the truth. When we're not grounded in truth, we settle for less integrity, less authenticity, less intimacy, less life. We side-step the truth, saying 'no, really, I'm fine." It may seem easier, but in the long run, it's exhausting. I work to help my clients become more familiar, and more comfortable, with the experience of living and speaking the truth. I have a deep respect for my clients spiritual path and I find spirituality is often fundamental to the process of growth and healing.

More Info About My Practice

I routinely offer an initial consultation at no cost, and I offer discounted fees to those for whom therapy would otherwise be unaffordable. My fee is $125 per 50-55 minute hour for individual and couple's sessions. I am the founder and director of Wise Counsel & Comfort, a co-op of community minded mental health professionals in Portland. If I am unable to meet your needs, I'm glad to consult with you about who among my colleagues at Wise Counsel might be a better choice.
