My Approach to Helping

Emotional pain, discomfort and general dissatisfaction are the greatest motivators for change and generally are what lead people to seek psychotherapy. My primary goal is to help you implement change, whether individually or in your relationship.

My therapy approach is a fusion of cognitive behavioral, attachment and family of origin theories as well as an emphasis on emotional safety as it relates to a strong relationship foundation. I have been recently studying the connection between neuroscience (the brain) and relationships which is very exciting, cutting-edge work demonstrating that the brain CAN change - which means you can change too! I provide psychoeducation around what this is about and how you can encourage the "neuroplasticity" of your own brain to improve your relationships - and your own well being.

My style is compassionate, no nonsense and down-to earth. All of these things, combined with my clients' willingness to dig deep - have led to great success in helping people resolve their individual issues and have more satisfying relationships.

Whether I'm doing individual therapy or couples counseling, I strive to help people identify what's "not working" for them, understand "why" they operate the way they do, work through emotional obstacles and old wounds - and finally empower them with practical tools to use on their own or in their relationships.

Areas of focus:

*Couples Communication
*Depression / Anxiety
*Infidelity
*Family of Origin Issues
*Resentment
*Trauma
*Emotional Safety
*Healthy Boundaries
*Resentment in Relationships
*Premarital Counseling
*Divorce Transition
