My Approach to Helping
I believe that every single person has a unique set of personal strengths, gifts, and talents, as well as, the capacity to live meaningful, fulfilled, and joyful lives. Through the natural course of living we all face challenging situations, difficult transitions, or even become stuck in ways of thinking and behaving that make it difficult to see these strengths, to remember our true value, or to develop new solutions to life's problems. These days people participate in counseling for a wide variety of reasons: Life transitions, stress, relationship issues, personal growth, career issues, parenting, depression, anxiety, and grief - the list goes on and on. When facing a difficult time in life, or when negotiating the twists and turns of personal growth and life transitions, counseling can be a highly effective tool to help you move forward into the life you want to create. Counseling is a process of self discovery and growth that can enrich your life with greater insight, enhanced relationship skills, and improved problem solving abilities. Whether for personal growth or to address specific life challenges, counseling can help you build bridges of connection and safe passage. As a registered professional counselor, I believe it takes courage to engage in the process of healing our lives and growing into our full potential as human beings. Because each person is unique, my counseling approach is influenced by the specific needs and concerns of each individual. However, my fundamental style is warm and supportive. I provide a safe, respectful, and confidential environment, where I work in partnership with clients to engage their personal strengths to make the changes they desire for their lives and relationships. I balance the use of listening and encouragement with actively providing information and offering ideas and strategies for clients to consider.
