My Approach to Helping
We all have the ability to be happy. My goal is to help you remove the roadblocks to achieving that happiness. Often, in order to protect yourself from being hurt, you develop coping strategies that keep you safe from pain, but can wind up preventing you from being happy. I have helped many people eliminate these barriers, and also develop coping strategies that keep them safe and happy. I have a down-to-earth style, and I would like to help you to feel good about your life.

More Info About My Practice
My areas of specialty are women in mid-life with marital issues, couples with marital problems, and people with depression. For over thirty years I have been able to use my skills in the therapeutic process to enable my clients to make positive changes in their lives.

Helping my clients achieve their personal goals and opening new possibilities for them is always my primary goal. Quality clinical care using research-based techniques and traditional treatment methodologies is the foundation of my approach. I customize my treatment plan to meet the individual needs of each client.

My passion for this work is infused in everything I do. It is my intention to help my clients feel more hopeful about their lives and the world in which they live each time we meet.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

When I was a kid, my dad was a salesman. I would love to sit with him. He would tell me about the people he had met that day. He'd tell me about their joys, their strengths, and about their struggles. We would wonder together why people acted the way that they did. We would talk about what we thought people could do differently in order to feel better. My dad was always running out to do a favor for a friend, a relative, or a customer. He would fix a TV set or unclog a drain, even help hang wallpaper if someone needed that. I admired my dad. He always said that he was a "social worker", too. I have found my way to be like my dad. I know from my own challenges in life, what a life changing difference it makes to work through difficulties and roadblocks and come up on the other side. From my dad's stories, from my own experiences, and from the experiences of the people I am privileged to help, I know how it feels to be down and to be stuck, but I also know how much people can learn and grow and make things different for themselves with the right help. It is my passion to accompany and coach people along that path. My happiest moment comes when you have learned and grown and can do for yourself what our work has been doing for you; that time when you are ready to do it without me, knowing that my door is always open if you need me. I admired my dad and the way he helped people. It is my goal to be like him and to help others.
