My Approach to Helping
My name is Kelly O'Horo, MC, NCC, LAC, and I am a graduate of The University of Phoenix. I have worked with adolescents and their families for the past 20 years in various capacities ranging from YMCA director, to educator in the Gilbert School District. I have worked in crisis therapy and outpatient therapy, and specialize in a wide range of presenting problems including, anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship issues, divorce, parenting, and behavior problems with children and adolescents.
I strive to provide a safe and trusting environment. I partner with my clients to determine goals and treatment plans to meet the specific needs of the individual or family. I recognize that the client is the true expert in his or her own life and empower the individual with a strength based cognitive behavioral approach to therapy. Throughout therapy the client will develop skills to help him or her to navigate through challenging periods in life.
I have been married to my husband Patrick for 12 years and have 4 sons, 2 of which currently serve in the armed forces. We are active in our community and are members of St. Timothy's church.
More Info About My Practice
I do not take insurance plans; however, I offer a preferred behavioral health plan to my clients allowing for an affordable rate of $75 sessions following a $94 intake session.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I enjoy working with adolescents and their families. Adolescents face many changes developmentally, as well as with their identity within their social networks, and in their families. I understand that their desire for autonomy coupled with the parents' desire to remain in "control" can come with some challenges while learning to navigate these changes.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
It is important as the therapist to identify the goals and desires the client wishes to achieve as a result of successful interventions.
