My Approach to Helping

As a psychospiritual therapist, I approach clients in a holistic manner that incorporates the psychological, emotional, cognitive, physical, interpersonal, cultural, and spiritual aspects of their lives. I work with individuals, couples, and families to promote self-understanding, behavioral changes, and deepened intimacy, so as to bring their lives into better balance and harmony. I utilize and integrate techniques from various therapeutic modalities that are efficient and designed for the specific needs of my clients. I use whole brain techniques to more quickly and efficiently re-program self-sabotaging beliefs that are contained in our subconscious minds. Since much of the healing work is done during the course of our daily lives, homework assignments are often made to support our in-session work and to assist in faster goal accomplishment. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: I hold clinical degrees in social work and psychology from the University of Denver, and a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry in Spiritual Direction from St. Thomas Seminary. I am a certified Imago Relationship Therapist, am fully trained as a Relational Empowerment Therapist with Terry Real's Relational Life Institute, and use the Prepare/Enrich program for pre-marital counseling. Additionally, I am certified in EMDR, am a trained PSYCH-K Facilitator and have completed Level I Coach Training in the Sedona Method. With my husband and colleague, Mike Misgen, I teach the "Growing in Intimacy" relationship classes for couples and the "Deepening Intimacy" Couples' Support Groups, along with various other skills workshops for individuals adn couples.
