My Approach to Helping
I believe that each individual innately seeks to live life to their fullest potential. Sometimes events or experiences get in the way of achieving each person's highest potential. I use an eclectic approach to therapy seeking the best possible approach for each person, couple or family.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am skilled at helping adolescent girls and women recover and heal from trauma issues. As a young woman a girl in our group of friends was raped. This greatly effected her life, she dropped out of high school, became severely depressed and lost 30 pounds. She wanted to die. At the age of 16, I didn\'t know what to say to her, but I knew I would stay by her side. Each day I went to her house, she was hearing impaired and had turned off her hearing aids. Still I communicated to her and told her I would help her, I would listen. For two months I watched her deteriorate while trying to communicate with her. One day, she turned her hearing aids on and told me the story of how she had been raped and how it devastated her life. I watched her get better that day. She went on to gain weight, become less depressed, go to school and laugh again. I have since been professionally trained and educated and have learned vast ways in helping people to deal with different kinds trauma. I have good skill in helping people to deal with depression and anxiety. Through training and educational experiences I have developed advanced skill in working with these issues.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

I believe therapy helps a person to heal, to uncover what is troubling, and to explore patterns otherwise unfamiliar with that may get in the way of living the life intended. I believe a therapeutic relationship can help a person trust and share events or circumstances a person would not otherwise share. As a trained clinician, I have many tools to teach others, just as they have experiences and tools that will teach me too. I see therapy as a joined effort in achieving the desired goals.
