My Approach to Helping
Sometimes the hardest part is to seek out counseling. It is a time when often we feel out of control, uncertain, even powerless. We seek validation for our feelings and support for our choices. Therapy is a time to be vulnerable and, therefore, choosing a therapist is a very personal process. Life has many transitions that can be challenging to navigate. The goal of therapy is to help alleviate some of the stress and allow you to function at a higher, more productive level. Real, lasting change comes from self-exploration and self-awareness. In therapy, we explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and therefore every session is confidential. You need to feel as though you are able to freely share with your therapist. Seemingly simple solutions, like attempting to just stop doing something or thinking a certain way, may not work. Therapy provides a space to discuss and examine your concerns and develop understanding and skills to see you through the challenges.

You will want to feel as though you can meet your goals with the therapist you have chosen, and the first appointment is an opportunity to begin to see if you feel you can do that. It is important to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship with your therapist so you ultimately feel comfortable sharing as much about yourself as will help your concerns that brought you to therapy. How Psychotherapy Can Help
Do you find that life feels like a struggle lately? Maybe you have noticed a loss of interest in activities in which you used to take pleasure. Are you feeling stressed or anxious from work or your relationship? While we may feel that we can hide our problems, doing so can often lead to further issues. Therapy supports you through these challenges so you can overcome and achieve genuine peace and happiness.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
While counseling provides a unique experience for each person, some ways that therapy creates a difference for us include: boosting motivation and self-awareness, enriching communication and stress managementcoping skills, and building self-esteem and enhancing emotional well-being. Therapy can feel incredibly validating. It can help us pick up from the place we feel stuck and move us forward.
