While each person I work with is unique, many have similar concerns relating to: relationship difficulties, anxiety, emotional regulation, and confusion. I feel with my education, and life experience, I’m skilled at understanding, relating, listening-to, and embracing each person’s life experience. Others have voiced that I’m insightful, grounded and mindful. I tend to work best with those that seek an integrative mind/body/spirit connection.
I have loved working with people all my life. Watching people grow, learn and develop is my passion.
The focus of my therapy work is to support my client by actively listening, empathizing, relating, and finding common ground. I assist each person's transformation with care, empathy, and respect, and will focus on the parts that need the most support and guidance. My orientation is informed by client-centered, mindful, expressive, and cognitive approaches.
Going to therapy can be a difficult decision to make, often because you might feel like it’s difficult to trust, or confide your feelings with someone other than your closest friends. Therapy can provide a new perspective, and objective view, and refuge for you to express those things that are challenging. If you decide to go to therapy, and you don’t feel it’s a good fit, you are not obligated to continue. I feel knowing that helps take some of the pressure off of the decision.
I believe it is important to feel your way and listen to your intuition when choosing a therapist. Look for characteristics that match a style you are comfortable with. Is this therapist comfortable to be with, and do I feel that I can communicate with them, and do I feel heard, are important questions to ask. Meet with each therapist to get a feeling whether you are a good fit or not. A profile, email, or phone call may not give you enough of a “feeling” so it is a good idea to meet with him or her if you feel a spark.
Therapy is about development, awareness, insight and growth. I do my best to counter this stigma where people feel flawed or weak by using strength-based positive psychologies and supporting my client’s to live productive, meaningful and happy lives.
This is a great question. Each person needs to decide for themselves how long they wish to be in therapy. Some prefer short solution work while others prefer longer more in depth work. I request that my clients make a weekly commitment. Each session is 50 minutes long in most cases. Families sessions may take longer and children sessions may take less time.
