My Approach to Helping

I believe that therapy is about transforming our lives as well as correcting current problems. I strive to validate my clients' experiences as I listen and provide them a space to safely share their concerns. I believe strongly that therapy is a process and will take as long as it takes to facilitate the change that is sought and yet remain consistently aware of the investment a client is making toward personal growth.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe that my primary role as a therapist is in being a listener. One of my favorites quotes is this: 'being heard is so close to being loved that most people do not know the difference.' I find myself able to listen to what is said and often what is unsaid in the room. I gently bring forth that which has been unsaid in a safe space. I love it when I hear couples or family members hearing one another differently, fully and seeing a sense of relief when they are also heard in return. This is, in my opinion, my most important role.
