My Approach to Helping

I help couples and other relationships take the marriage or relationship they have, and work together to make it the one they both want. I believe that conflict and distress is healing and growth trying to happen -- for the relationship and for the individuals in it. I believe in empowering the couple to continue working on their on for a lifetime and therefore make sure they have information and tools to use throughout life. Those tools can be modified and used in any relationship. Because life is a network of relationships, building better marriages and relationships is about changing the world as well as the life of the couple.

 

More Info About My Practice

I do not take insurance, although some people submit receipts to insurance on their own. To do so, in most plans you must qualify for a diagnosis of some mental disorder for insurance to pay. That is one of the reasons I do not take it!

 

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

My specialty is marriage and relationships. I primarily use Imago Relationship Therapy which builds skills, improves communication, addresses the root of the issue (which is where action needs to be focused) and help people be more successful in changing what does not work.

 

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love watching people discover new understandings about themselves, each other, and what goes on in relationship and then witnessing moments of profound connection -- even in something that started as a conflict. I love empowering couples to learn tools to continue their work without me. I love seeing people find hope and a commitment to creating more of what they both want in a marriage or relationship. I love doing therapy that makes sense. I feel honored every single day I work, whether in counseling in my office or the weekend workshops, to be a guide for part of someone's journey toward better relationships. It's a way to help change the world.
