My Approach to Helping

I provide counseling that is goal-focused, relationship-oriented, and with an introspective edge. I try to create a warm and comfortable environment both inside my office and while addressing personal issues with clients. My approach usually brings a sense of hope and encourages learning of problem-management skills. Anyone can experience hard times, but how we manage these transitions in life is of value. My initial visit typically includes a brief assessment of the presenting concern to better understand the client's stressors, problems, strengths and resources. I try to establish an action plan to guide our future sessions.

I work with individuals, couples and families. Some of the main issues I address are: relationship and communication problems, anxiety and depression, adjustment difficulties, life changes, trauma, and self-esteem issues.

Although the clinical work focuses on staying present-focused, my interventions and questions integrate resolutions that involve both a person's past and future experiences.
