My Approach to Helping

My passion is helping women and their families through the life cycle transitions of fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause. My practice specialty is women's reproductive mental health. I also help women through perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, etc.) I take a team approach to helping my clients feel empowered to develop their goals for recovering through depression, anxiety, grief/loss, or life cycle transition. My philosophy is very strengths-focused and client-centered. I offer a compassionate listening ear and psycho-education. In addition, I believe the client has the answers to move through their struggles, and my job is to help them to find motivation, coping skills, and tools for transformation into a place of self-nurturance.

I feel particularly called to help women and their families dealing with perinatal mood/anxiety disorders and transition to parenting, as I am a survivor myself of postpartum depression. I know that with help, women and their families thrive. It is an honor and a privilege to help my clients journey to a place of wellness. I find this work incredibly rewarding and gratifying.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Yes, my own personal challenge of postpartum depression. I believe having been through the "fire", I am able to be particularly empathic and attentive to my clients' challenges. I also like to believe I practice what I preach with my own self-care. I feel authentic, positive genuine regard for my clients allows them to feel respected and de-stigmatized in their healing journey.
