My Approach to Therapy

At Serenity, it is important to us that people in our community get the services that they need. We offer professional and affordable counseling and coaching to individuals, couples and families in, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Naples and online counseling to all of Florida if needed. It is our goal to assist clients in feeling free to discuss difficult situations in an unbiased and safe environment. We take into account that each individual is different in their approach to receiving therapy. It is important that our clients feel comfortable enough to open up. We will discuss and discover contributors to presenting concerns. We will explore your health, sleep patterns, relationship dynamics, family status, self-care, previous diagnoses, current symptom; among many other factors that may play a part in your concerns and reaching your goals. We will work together to develop a therapeutic relationship that will assist you in feeling safe and free to discuss anything in a confidential space.

My Practice & Services

At Serenity Counseling Center we believe that people know where they need to go in therapy and at times, just need a little guidance to figure this out. We will work together to find your path. I like it when my clients are able to "get real" in therapy. This means that I have to set that tone and allow clients to see that I am as human as they are. I believe that this helps to create and maintain the therapeutic relationship.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

It has been very beneficial to many of my clients to be able to talk to a professional that is outside of their family and friend circle; that they can be open and honest with in a confidential environment. Therapy can help one to regain emotional balance, have more fulfilling relationships, have better self-esteem and confidence, increase assertiveness, have better boundaries and learn how to utilized learned coping skills to find peace in difficult situations.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love being a part of the transformation that occurs when my clients find their emotional balance that improves every aspect of their lives. I have a heart for this, because I was once a client in counseling doing the same.

My Therapy Focus

I have a passion for working with women and women's issues (family, time management, self-care, parenting, mood and hormonal changes, aging, self-esteem, romantic relationships, boundaries) and many other issues that we as women face. I also enjoy working with couples that sincerely want to repair and develop a more fulfilling relationship.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

It's important that the client is able to build a therapeutic relationship with his or her counselor. Not every counselor will be a good fit. Counseling needs to be affordable as well. If you can't afford to pay for enough sessions to accomplish your goals, what is the point? We offer a free phone consultation to make sure that we are a good fit for our potential clients, along with a sliding fee scale to fit an individual's income.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

There are times in life when it is important to know when to reach out for professional guidance and support. I am of the opinion that that "smart people seek counseling" because they know that it will help them to move forward to knew and and more enjoyable place in life. Life is too short to stay stuck or in limbo!

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

This is very individualized. I like to see all new clients once a week, or at least every other week, depending on schedules and finances. The goal is to be able to extend this to once every two weeks, once a months, once every three months, six months and as needed.
