Bilingual and Bicultural psychotherapy services for Individuals, Children, Families and Couples.
I believe a strong, trusting relationship with your therapist is the foundation for meaningful growth and change. In our work together, I meet you where you are, with empathy, compassion, and without judgment. My holistic approach focuses on your mind, body, and spirit, and I integrate both traditional and alternative therapies to support your overall well-being.
What makes a good life? Plenty of money, you may say. Or good health. Professional success. A long-term relationship. Getting to your goal weight. Having a large apartment in your chosen neighborhood. Children. Newsflash: These can be components of a miserable life or a satisfying one! What do I mean by this? A good life starts from the inside! We all know people who are in peak health and are unhappy. And you have probably heard of terminally ill people who are fully enjoying their remaining time. Same with money or lack of it. Same with professional success, long-term relationships, etc. There are people who seem to be doing very well on paper who are miserable, and people who are not doing well by external standards who are a pleasure to be around. What makes the difference is being able to deal with the people and situations in your life today, and to learn to be happy yourself, rather than looking for someone else to make you feel good about yourself or to make you happy. Walking around feeling insecure, depressed, anxious, lacking a sense of purpose, or feeling like you are a burden to your friends, this is not the life you dreamed of having as a child, and it’s not the life you want today. How do you go from here to a satisfying life? Good therapy makes all the difference in the world. Starting therapy is a sign of strength, and that’s something to feel good about. I bring empathy, warmth, curiosity, and the courage to sit with you in your pain, and to help you find a way through. There may be tears, and there will also be some laughter along the way. This is life, after all. I’ve been working with individuals and couples since 1995. My approach is to connect with you, get to know you, relate, and bring a deep understanding of human psychology to our work together, so you can define and create a satisfying life for yourself. Your idea of a satisfying life is unique to you, not a one-size-fits-all life reached by a one-size-fits-all therapy. You don’t have to be perfect to have a good life. The people in your life don’t have to be perfect, nor do your circumstances. Whew! What a relief! Life can be messy and unpredictable, and you can still look for and enjoy the bright spots, and be in love with your life. I’d like to work with you, help you create that life, and help you deal with the things, past and present, that get in the way of your enjoyment. Maybe you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, job stress, illness, difficulty in relationships, substance-use issues, a recent breakup, a move, family pressures, whatever this messy life sends your way. Whether you’re a recent graduate adjusting to life beyond college, the parent of someone “leaving the nest,” or you’re dealing with the death of a loved one, starting a career, or looking at retirement, whatever your challenges are, I’m here to help you face them, learn to handle them in a way you can look back on and feel good about, and learn from the mistakes we all make along the way as humans. We’ll work together to help you find the joy in everyday life!
I practice a problem focused, short-term, and distinct form of cognitive behavioral therapy. I am an active directive therapist. I teach people how to change what can be changed and to accept what cannot be changed about themselves, others and life. I teach rational thinking. This approach is called Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). It was created by Albert Ellis a famous psychologist who I worked with for many years. This is a no nonsense approach to emotional and behavioral health. I actively show you how not to upset yourself when you encounter difficulties so that you can then go about attempting to modify what can be changed. I teach people how to control their emotions and behaviors. I work with individuals and couples. I show people how to adopt sensible beliefs so that they can achieve their potential. Please go to my website and watch my video and read more about this very pragmatic, fast acting and direct form of psychotherapy.
When a relationship is in crisis, or a family is fractured, you need more than just a listener—you need a clear path forward. My practice is built on objective, research-based interventions designed to bring clarity to high-stakes situations. A Scientific Approach to Couples Therapy As a Gottman-trained therapist, I don’t rely on intuition alone. We begin with a formal Gottman assessment that serves as a blueprint for your treatment plan. By using this data-driven approach, we remove the guesswork and move objectively toward your goals, often achieving results in less time. In my office, the relationship is the client. By focusing on the bond, rather than the individuals, I eliminate bias and ensure that our work remains dedicated to the health of the partnership. Specialized Family Services: Alienation and Reunification I provide expert intervention for families navigating the most difficult transitions, including: Family reunification: I specialize in working with families experiencing estrangement or alienation. My goal is to facilitate healing and restore healthy parent-child dynamics through structured, therapeutic reunification. Court-involved evaluations: I conduct comprehensive family evaluations designed for legal contexts. These assessments provide the court with an objective, clinical perspective on family functioning. Professional Disclaimer: Please note that my role is defined by the specific service requested. To maintain clinical integrity and avoid a conflict of interest, I do not simultaneously serve as a neutral evaluator and a treating therapist for the same family. Evaluations are conducted as a neutral third party for the court's consideration. All court-related services, including testimony and evaluations, are subject to specific fee schedules and retainer agreements.

Many of my clients come to therapy for help with relationships, and are frustrated that they repeat patterns but don't have an alternative. I believe relationships are central to life and I also know that much of what we learn about how to relate comes from childhood. Often we've outgrown certain ways of interacting, but it can be hard to know what or how to do things differently. My approach to therapy is collaborative and leans heavily on curiosity. I don't see therapy as a place to "get fixed" but a place to explore, learn, and embrace who you are. In order to do things differently, we need to understand ourselves, and this requires an open, non-judgmental a mind. Of course it can feel difficult and even scary to learn about yourself or discover new things, so I will work at your pace and refer to you as the expert on your experiences. I have great respect for our ability to heal and grow if given the opportunity and a safe space to do so. I believe we are all capable of living a life that aligns with who we authentically are, not the person we created to make the world happy.
