My approach in therapy is collaborative, supportive, and goal oriented.
For over 13 years, I have dedicated myself to supporting people of all ages through a range of stressors, including anxiety, depression, tense family dynamics, grief, chronic illness, and life transitions. In this work, I’ve seen firsthand the tremendous pressures individuals face to appear “okay” and the self-blame that often comes from not meeting unrealistic societal expectations. These experiences have deepened my passion for helping those who are entering parenthood, raising young children, caregiving, redefining roles and boundaries in relationships, and navigating the complexities of grief and loss. Taking the first step to address emotional challenges is an act of tremendous courage, and you don’t have to face it alone. When life feels overwhelming, a strong therapeutic relationship can provide the support needed to navigate your journey toward growth and meaningful change. Together, we can draw on your strengths and collaboratively focus on your goals. If you choose to work together, we can uncover underlying barriers and unhelpful patterns contributing to your distress, while also identifying and strengthening your personal resources to foster growth. My clients frequently describe feeling genuinely listened to, understood, and met with warmth and authenticity during our sessions.
My psychotherapy practice is based on a few essential beliefs: 1) Creating emotional safety and mutual trust is at the heart of the therapy process. 2) The therapeutic relationship is the vehicle to healing and growing. 3) Humans need connection/relationship in order to thrive, along with a sense of autonomy, and a deep sense of being known and loved in spite of our flaws. 4) Our brains and bodies are biologically hard wired for survival; our earliest relationships teach us what we need to do to feel safe. This hard wiring can change if we have healing interaction with others. 5) Couples/Families can create safety for each other if they learn new ways of relating. 6) Therapy is not an endless process. I offer individualized therapy and through the work my clients find that: they develop a stronger self image, recognize what they can and cannot control, decrease anxiety and conflict in close relationships and in relationships at work, create emotional safety for those they love as well as for themselves, cope with stress using new skills, understand the connections between what they think, feel, and believe, are able to be more self aware, and learn to live life with a sense of intention, satisfaction, comfort, and pleasure. I have been a successful therapist for almost four decades, with ongoing training in different therapies. My approach is integrative, relational, and is tailored to the needs of my clients. Over the years I have been with clients as they discover or share their darkest experiences and most shameful secrets. It is a privilege to work with people, listen to them, witness their life experience, and and empower the to lighten the weight they carry. It is also a privilege to witness as repair in relationships takes place, and to be with patients as they experience growth, strive for goals, and find satisfaction and joy in their endeavors.
I offer mindfulness-based psychotherapy in approaching problems of living. Mindfulness-based psychotherapy is about rediscovering the experience of basic goodness, peacefulness, wisdom and calm. It is about becoming fully present. It is a bodily as well as a mental experience. Mindfulness helps the mind expand. With practice, one steadily can become aware of, rather than governed by, feelings, thoughts, and reactions. Mindfulness is a capacity to watch these things AS they are happening. As this capacity of mindfulness grows in us, that which is mindful, the one who is watching, can little by little begin to act as inner guide. You are not your problems. Even if you feel like your difficulties--including past trauma--are defining you, they are not who you are, they are something you have which you need to familiarize yourself with by learning how to listen to what your deeper nature is saying to you. Much of the suffering that brings one to therapy can be found in negative feelings and beliefs, in theories one has towards oneself. The ultimate healing can come through recognizing and reconnecting with your essential nature, verses your conditioning, seeing who exactly is there rather than defining yourself through the haze of your own or another's theories and assumptions. Everything's a rumor until it's true for you. Buddhism teaches us that our basic goodness is not an invention. It doesn't need to be created or imagined. It can't be bought or sold. And even if it becomes buried, it cannot be destroyed. Who we are becomes hidden to us by our conditioning. In that forgetfulness, in the absence of a mindful mind, we are dragged around by our thoughts and emotions (both positive & negative,) our reactions and sensations. We experience things like anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, everyday stress, tension in relationships, even stressful happiness! We believe we are the wave (our thoughts, emotions, etc.) rather than recognizing we are the ocean from which the waves of our experiences arise and return. So what can we do? Bring compassion. It may sound very simple, yet it is extremely powerful to cultivate an attitude of loving-kindness towards yourself. I know this to be true personally and have seen it over and over again in my professional life. Kindness can gently lead to understanding. From understanding, compassion can arise. Compassion is key. I will provide you the best possible care through a treatment approach that is tailored to you in a safe, respectful, supportive, collaborative healing environment.
Hello, I’m Courtney Minarsky, a licensed clinical social worker offering telehealth therapy to residents of New Jersey and New York. My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and encouraging. I use a strength-based perspective to help people understand their needs, accept their genuine selves, and heal pain from the past so that they can begin to finally feel calmer and happier. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and find healing and growth through a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. I have experience working with clients facing a range of issues, including anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem struggles, and parenting challenges. My goal is to create a safe space where you can feel heard and understood while offering practical tools and insights that can support you in overcoming difficulties and making lasting positive changes. Together, we’ll collaborate to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a way that brings clarity and healing. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming emotions, relationship difficulties, or looking to achieve personal growth, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
I provide practical tools and guidance to help you understand the brilliance of your nervous system and the wisdom it holds. By creating a space rooted in fierce compassion, curiosity, accountability, and even a little humor. Together, we'll work to gently shift the stories, beliefs, and habits that no longer serve you—whether from your personal experience, your lineage, or from the collective. Our work is a holistic partnership where we honor every part of your experience: • Mind: We’ll explore how your thoughts shape your world, influence your feelings and behaviors, and build strategies to shift your mindset. • Body: Moving beyond just ‘talking,’ we will also listen to what your body is telling you, practicing real-time techniques in session to help you manage emotions and find a sense of safety to help you have a different relationship with fear and pain. Ultimately, we will work on rewiring your brain for more calm and resilience. • Soul: To support your deepest self, we explore how a connection to the natural world can foster a profound sense of belonging. We can also integrate the power of ritual—creating intentional, meaningful practices that call our attention to mark what is. These practices help you truly connect with yourself, honor your transitions, and release the old as you ground into a new way of being. Throughout our time together, we will regularly track and measure the impact of our work. This ensures we are making a tangible, positive difference in your symptoms and moving you steadily toward the goals that matter most to you. If this resonates with you and you’re interested in the possibility of working together, please message me to schedule a consultation call. I currently offer in-person psychotherapy in Westchester, offer telehealth sessions to clients living anywhere in New York State and New Jersey, and offer life coaching nationwide.
If you're ready to make a change, I can help. Sessions are dynamic and change-oriented. Working together I will assist you in gaining an awareness of the faulty thinking that stems from your past and learn to replace negative thinking patterns with a more positive, realistic outlook. We'll get to the root of what's fueling your struggles, and then we'll work toward applying new ideas to help you create healthier behaviors and pursue happiness more effectively. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a humanistic approach, I can assist you in looking at yourself and the world with a new perspective. You'll experience relief from symptoms, change self-defeating behaviors, and enjoy better quality relationships. My goal is to help you actively and effectively create sustainable change in your life. People tell me that they experience more self-compassion and less self-blame through their work with me.
Available Sundays and 5pm and 6pm during weekdays. Do you just want to get better or do you want to thrive? I have been working in behavioral health for 16 years, and it has been a very rewarding experience. I have an energetic and enthusiastic approach and stay up-to-date with the latest information to provide the best care possible. I am well versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Positive Psychology (the study of optimizing functionality). I am originally from New York, so I have had the opportunity to gain experience at reputable institutions such as New York Presbyterian Hospital and Montefiore Health System. In California, I was the Director of the Behavioral Health Department at Salinas Valley Health from 2020 to 2024. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with almost all types of diagnoses. I have many years of experience helping people address and overcome depression, anxiety, sports performance, borderline personality disorder, trauma, relationship issues, work stress, grief, and difficult life transitions. Depending on what you would like to get out of therapy, we may focus on getting to the root cause(s), improve communication skills, adapt to situations effectively, explore coping skills, and modify behavior. I earned my BA in Psychology from Boston College and my Master of Social Work from Fordham University. I also earned my MBA in Healthcare Administration in 2019. Outside of work, I enjoy boxing, playing golf, yoga, lifting weights, and going to the beach! What to expect? The first appointment is a thorough interview to get to know you. I will ask about upbringing, childhood, family, education, occupation, hobbies, social life, and psychiatric history. In follow-up sessions, we develop a strategy to address your goals. The therapy approach is contingent on the goals. Contact me to make an appointment! I look forward to working with you!
The choice to begin therapy is a courageous one. I consider it a great privilege to partner with people as they work to improve various aspects of their lives. I provide a safe, empathetic, and warm environment to encourage exploration and personal growth. Everyone entering therapy has a unique set of goals; I work to meet those specific needs and desires through an eclectic approach of interpersonal, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement, PTSD, and substance abuse.
I love working with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds. I have a warm and direct approach, and I work with couples to communicate and hear each other in a safe and productive way. I use IMAGO therapy/Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT), which most couples find very positive and quickly gives hope. With my individual clients, we work to understand your needs and desires and ways to help you find your inner strengths to achieve them. I also bring in some coaching tools when helpful. I respect and highly value the client-therapist relationship.
Through the use of evidenced-based, client-centered therapies, I help people live with mental health issues and over time reimagine these divergences as features, not flaws. I specialize in the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Please feel free to reach out any time. I look forward to connecting with you.
It takes courage to seek help for your personal struggles, and it takes persistence to keep trying. I learned this myself as a young college student facing painful life challenges. The help my own therapist offered me inspired me to offer assistance to others. I have more than 27 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in individual and family settings. I offer a well-trained ear to listen to your problems, as well as caring, warmth, and the ability to ask the right questions. My office is a safe and confidential place that allows you to explore painful losses, anxiety, relationship challenges, past trauma and pain, and unhealthy habits. I maintain healthy boundaries while being genuine and empathetic. Although I've been practicing for many years, I believe that life is a learning process and education never ends. I work in consultation with supervisors and colleagues so that I remain up-to-date on the most effective treatments. I'll do everything I can to offer you the help you seek, but if there is a way in which I can't assist you, I'll help you find the resources you need. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and know that I admire the bravery it takes to embark on the path toward healing and change.
