My Approach to Helping
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my approach with clients is free formed and open to build a respectable comfort between us. I like to work in a collaborative manner that allows the client and myself to work as a team on goals. The Therapeutic Approach and styles that I like to focus on are: Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, and eclectic variations of many others.
I like to work on a strength based approach and use what current works in the individuals life and grow from that baseline.
More Info About My Practice
When I was 10, I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. I struggled to learn how to cope with this significant life change, and that spurred my desire to become a therapist. My diagnosis helped me master coping skills to overcome the struggles we all experience in life, and sparked my passion for helping others.
I have worked with children and families to manage various challenges for a decade. I specialize in helping children and their families manage chronic illness. I built a collaborative relationship with my clients, cultivating their strengths. These strengths can offer additional tools and skills to help support the client.
I have worked with a diverse group of children and families to manage challenges such as grief, loss, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, eating disorders, and special needs. I work to help my clients feel supported and comfortable, so they can efficiently tackle their challenges.
My Role as a Therapist
As a Therapist, I view myself as a guide in helping my clients grow with their natural strengths. I believe that we all have the strength to overcome the road bumps we encounter in life and may need some navigation at times. That would be my role in Therapy, to provide navigation and help overcome obstacles that may get in our way.
It is a strong belief of mine that we all deserve happiness and to have a complete fulfilling life. Whatever that looks like for you, It is my goal to assist clients individually, as a couple, or as a family to achieve their desired goals.
