Effective communication is a key part of therapy, and I adapt my communication style to meet the needs of each individual. Here are the main communication styles I use in my practice: active listening, empathetic and compassionate, clear and direct, non-judgmental, and open and supportive feedback.
I believe the relationship or "fit" between the therapist and the client is one of the most important factors in psychotherapy. With a trusted, compassionate therapist, you will talk through everything that is on your mind and receive professional advice and honest, caring feedback. You can put your thoughts into words without feeling dismissed or judged. Therapy will help you relieve current struggles and feelings, experience more self-confidence, make better decisions, feel in control of your life and relationships, and resolve painful past and current experiences and traumas. I will work with you to identify and understand underlying issues or patterns that may contribute to your current struggles. We will work to develop new approaches and alternative ways to manage relationships and struggles.

Talking about sex and problematic sexual behaviors is often stigmatized by society, family or culture. My main goal is provide a safe place where one can openly discuss sexual concerns and we can work together to determine if they are problematic or to discuss the impact of another's sexual behaviors on you. Too often, it is assumed that therapy around sexual addiction or sexuality is about stopping one's sexual behavior. Here, we work to define your sexuality as an individual. Work may include trauma focused work in order to gain access to underlying concerns, or it may involve sex education to best claim your sexuality. Working with loved ones of sex addicts, including parents, often includes shame reduction and healthy boundary work. Whatever the work is, you are part of the treatment team and the most important part of guiding therapy.
It's time now to genuinely feel and function better. In order to do that, it's essential to pay close attention to your internal responses to the difficulties and patterns that have been cropping up in your closest relationships, your work, and with respect to your own self-concept, and to do so with someone who can help you see things differently and perhaps more accurately. Together, we will create an open, accepting, safe space, where you also will feel helpfully and persistently challenged to know yourself much better from the inside out, and as quickly as possible.
Dr. Morgan treats individuals, couples, families, and children. Dr. Morgan currently provides clinical supervision to Marriage and Family Counselors. He enjoys working with clients who have a broad spectrum of relationship problems. I am a therapist who specializes in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with either anxiety, life transitions, complex trauma or spirituality. I enjoy being able to walk alongside others in their life journey and to be a stable and consistent support in their life. I have been in the mental health field for over 5 years now, working with various populations of those who have experienced trauma throughout various forms of life. I also have experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders and those who are also desiring family therapy to address family conflict or stressors. I often use strength-based modalities that foster a client-centered session in conjunction with certain interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and parts work. I can also incorporate Christian spirituality into sessions as well, if desired. It is important for you to feel heard and valued in session as you bring what you desire to focus on into the therapy environment with me. We will next work on skills, where you can increase your insight into what you are experiencing, and build confidence to address the struggles you are facing with new tools. I am a big supporter of a person-centered approach, and I value the individual as someone who is an expert on their own life and just needs someone to help bring that to the surface.
