What's My Approach to Therapy?

I help individuals and couples break painful patterns and feel more secure, confident, and connected in themselves and their relationships. If you’re stuck in the same arguments, questioning your relationship, or feeling emotionally distant even though you care deeply, you’re not alone. You might be dealing with resentment, fights that never get resolved, relationship anxiety, baggage from past relationships, or feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward. From the outside, things may look “fine,” but inside, it feels heavy and exhausting.

Imagine what it would feel like to finally move past these patterns and feel confident in yourself and your relationship. I help individuals and couples understand the patterns that keep them stuck or disconnected, using proven techniques to build trust, confidence, emotional safety, and honest, healthy communication. I use Emotionally-Focused Therapy (the gold-standard for couples therapy and relational concerns) to transform the relationships in your life.

I offer a warm, supportive space where even the hardest conversations can finally happen. I work with individuals and couples virtually across Ontario. If you’re tired of going in circles and want real change, I invite you to book a free 15-minute consultation.

My Practice & Services

Lovebird Couples Therapy Ontario, founded and led by Sarah Perone, is a compassionate and evidence-based therapy practice dedicated to supporting individuals and couples across Ontario. Our mission is to help clients build stronger, healthier relationships and navigate life’s emotional challenges with clarity, understanding, and connection.

We specialize in couples therapy, premarital counseling, relationship-focused individual therapy, and support for relationship anxiety (including ROCD and retroactive jealousy). Our work also includes helping clients improve communication, rebuild trust, manage conflict, and navigate life transitions.

We proudly serve clients across Ontario, including the GTA (Toronto, Vaughan, Woodbridge, Bolton), and surrounding communities, offering online therapy sessions for accessibility and convenience.

As the owner and founder, I bring a collaborative, relational approach to therapy, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore emotions, patterns, and solutions that foster lasting change. Whether you are seeking help for relationship stress, emotional distance, anxiety, or preparing for a lifelong partnership, Lovebird Couples Therapy Ontario is here to guide you toward connection, understanding, and growth.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

When it comes to relationship work, choosing the right therapist can make all the difference. A strong therapeutic relationship, one built on trust, safety, and collaboration, is essential for couples and individuals to feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate challenges together.

It?s also important to consider a therapist?s credentials and specialized training in couples therapy. Effective couples therapists are trained in evidence-based approaches to communication, conflict resolution, and emotional intimacy. Credentials signal not only professional expertise but also a commitment to ethical, high-quality care.

At Lovebird Couples Therapy Ontario, we prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals and both partners of a couple feel validated and empowered to explore patterns, repair connection, and strengthen trust. If you?re considering individual or couples therapy, booking a consultation is the best way to see if we are the right fit for you (and your partner)! Together, we can determine the approach that best supports your relationship goals.

Groups I Work With

I work with individuals and couples across Ontario who feel stuck in their relationships, overwhelmed by anxiety, or caught in painful patterns they don’t know how to break. Many of the people I support are high-functioning, self-aware, and deeply invested in their relationships, yet still find themselves struggling with communication, trust, jealousy, emotional distance, or recurring conflict.

At Lovebird Couples Therapy Ontario, I specialize in couples therapy, premarital counselling, and relationship-focused individual therapy, including support for relationship anxiety, jealousy, communication, and relationship obsessive-compulsive (ROCD)-related concerns. I often work with couples who love each other but feel disconnected, couples navigating life transitions, and partners who want to rebuild emotional safety after repeated misunderstandings or breaches of trust.

I also support individual clients who may be single or partnered and want to better understand their attachment patterns, manage relationship anxiety, improve boundaries, or prepare for healthier relationships. Many clients come to therapy feeling exhausted from overthinking their relationship, doubting themselves, or trying to “fix” things on their own.

Whether you’re seeking online therapy in Ontario, looking for couples counselling near you, or wanting a therapist who understands the emotional complexity of modern relationships, my approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based relationship therapy.
