What's My Approach to Therapy?
Masako is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who believes in caring for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Taking a holistic approach to mental health, she looks beyond symptoms to explore the underlying factors that influence emotional well-being, including physical health, lifestyle, relationships, and lived experiences.
She works collaboratively with each person to create individualized treatment plans that may include therapy, medication management, mindfulness, and other evidence-based wellness interventions. Masako is dedicated to providing a compassionate, supportive environment where people feel understood, empowered, and equipped to achieve balance, healing, and lasting mental wellness. Masako's treatment modalities aim to incorporate aspects of mindfulness, radical acceptance, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Influenced by her Japanese background, she integrates mindfulness-based principles that promote self-awareness, balance, and whole-person healing. She has experience working with a variety of diverse populations in many healthcare settings, and primarily works with adult clients for depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), bipolar condition, schizophrenia, and adjustment challenges.
More recently, Masako also completed continuing education that focused on posttraumatic stress (PTSD) assessment and management through the National Center for PTSD.
In her free time, Masako enjoys hiking, exercising, traveling, and practicing her electric piano. She has two small dogs.
