What's My Approach to Therapy?
Is your life on a satisfying path? Are your relationships working the way you want them to? Do you take good care of yourself? Through compassionate listening, searching questions and practical ideas, together we can get you heading in the right direction. We can reduce pain and anxiety, clarify your choices, examine the forces that drive you, and help make your relationships more fulfilling. I use Emotionally-Focused Therapy in my couples work, which is a profoundly powerful approach to helping gain or regain a secure loving bond.
My Practice & Services
I love couples' therapy, and focus on developing secure bonds that support both people as well as the union. In couples' work, you can expect me to be attuned and also directive as we aim to interrupt negative cycles and build positive experiences between you.
I work a lot with stepfamilies and co-parents in my practice. My goal with co-parents is to encourage cooperation, teach respectful communication and negotiation skills, keep children's needs foremost, and avoid court when possible.
I also help couples with Decision Counseling; couples who are confused about the future of their relationship, to clarify their best possible choice.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
I always ask clients about previous therapy experiences. This is important so that we identify what worked or did not work in the past for you, whether in individual, couples' or family therapy. In this way we gain clues in order to avoid certain directions and to provide what you need most.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Our relationship is the most crucial element for establishing your comfort level and growth. You can expect me to attune to your needs, to be respectful and supportive, and to ask your opinion about how the work is going. I feel honored to share in the tougher challenges of your life and to dedicate myself to your growth and well-being.
