My Approach to Therapy

Life can bring challenges, transitions, and unexpected changes that leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step. As a therapist in Sarasota, I work with men navigating relationship stress and the pressure of holding it all together, women managing anxiety and the weight of caretaking roles, couples working to rebuild honest communication, and individuals and couples of all orientations and gender identities figuring out what it means to live authentically. I also work with older adults facing the emotional side of aging and early cognitive changes, and with caregivers who are stretched thin trying to hold up someone else's life along with their own. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but it doesn't have to. I strive to make the process approachable and direct, rather than clinical or distant. In our sessions, you'll have a space to sort through what's weighing on you, gain clarity, and develop practical tools to move forward with confidence. I bring a collaborative approach, and I'm not afraid to offer honest feedback when it's useful. We'll always work at a pace that feels right for you, and we'll focus on what matters most. I see individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy clients in person in my Sarasota office, and via secure telehealth throughout Florida. I practice under the clinical supervision of Paul White, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License #SW542, as part of my registration as a Clinical Social Work Intern.

My Practice & Services

Beyond individual, couples, and family therapy, I facilitate community support groups in the Sarasota area. I run “Aging Rebels” in partnership with Senior Friendship Centers, a discussion group for older adults navigating the transitions that come with aging, and “Unstuck,” a group for adults in their 20s and 30s working through the particular pressures of that stage of life. I’m also involved with a Sarasota-based employee assistance program (EAP), supporting employees with workplace-related mental health needs. I see individual clients in my Sarasota office and via secure telehealth throughout Florida, and group participants are welcome to join even if they’re not also seeing me individually.

My Therapy Focus

As a Sarasota therapist, I work with men navigating relationship stress and the pressure of holding it all together, women managing anxiety and the weight of caretaking roles, couples working to rebuild honest communication, and individuals and couples of all orientations and gender identities figuring out what it means to live authentically. I also work with older adults facing the emotional side of aging and early cognitive changes, and with caregivers who are stretched thin trying to hold up someone else's life along with their own. A few things people often want to know before reaching out: I don't accept insurance, but I maintain a limited number of reduced rate spots based on need and individual situation, along with special rates for veterans, first responders, teachers, and their families. Sessions are available both in person at my Sarasota office and via secure telehealth video anywhere in Florida. I offer a free 15-minute consultation for anyone deciding whether we're a good fit before committing to ongoing sessions. My educational background includes a BA from Georgetown University and an MSW from Florida State University. I draw on strength-based, trauma-informed, and collaborative approaches, adapting my style to each person rather than applying one method across the board. My work with couples is informed by the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Beyond individual and couples sessions, I facilitate community support groups in the Sarasota area, including "Aging Rebels" in partnership with Senior Friendship Centers and "Unstuck" for adults in their 20s and 30s, and I'm involved with a Sarasota EAP supporting workplace mental health.

Groups I Work With

I work with a wide range of people, though a significant part of my practice centers on men who are navigating relationship stress, the pressure of holding everything together, and the quiet toll that can take over time. I also work with couples who want to communicate more honestly and rebuild trust after things have grown distant. Individual adults come to me for support with anxiety, career stress, and the kind of self-esteem struggles that often stay hidden behind a capable exterior. A growing part of my work is with older adults and their families. I support seniors facing the emotional side of aging, including early cognitive changes, and I work closely with caregivers who are stretched thin trying to care for a parent or spouse while managing their own lives. Grief, whether from loss or from watching someone change, comes up often in this part of my practice.
