My Approach to Therapy

Life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs at us, and you deserve an empathetic and authentic space to express yourself and what has brought you to seek positive change in your life. I find personal connection to be the most healing part of therapy, and I will meet you exactly where you are as we explore your unique needs and growth goals together in a safe environment, free of judgment. I am committed to working with you to build this connection, holding space for your thoughts, emotions, and life story. Being a person-centered therapist, I take an attachment-based approach, providing a warm, accepting, and trauma-informed therapy experience. If you have endured past andor current trauma and its continuing impact on your life, you're in the right place. While I primarily work with toddlers, children, adolescents, and young adults dealing with life transitions, I have extensive experience working with adults, as well. Whatever age, you will have the freedom and comfortability of exploring your life experiences, judgment-free. I am driven by the healing power of human connection, so you will not find the stereotypical "therapist taking notes while you speak" or "client speaks the whole time while therapist analyzes" in our sessions. Authenticity is at the core of my practice and I will always be authentically human, just as you are. Above all, in this space, you are allowed to simply be yourself, and I will always show up as myself, as well. Your story deserves to be heard, and I hope to work with you to heal from trauma, tap into and strengthen your emotional resilience and self-discovery, and overcome the stumbling blocks in your path toward wellness and personal empowerment.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

This is a common misconception in our culture and is completely misguided and untrue. In fact, the opposite is true. Going to therapy means you are working toward reaching your full potential, regardless of what you are specifically struggling with and hoping to work on in therapy. You may be breaking a generational trauma, finding help for your loved ones who you've noticed are dealing with a lot, looking for someone who will listen to and hold space for the things you don't speak about, searching for a connection with someone who will not view you through the lens of a diagnosis you may have, needing extra coping skills to handle this often stressful life, and many more. You are STRONG and CAPABLE. Whatever the reason, you have recognized your unique situation, trauma, and difficulties, which is a strength in itself. How many people do you think have that insight? How many people would say finding a way to live a more content life is weak? You are doing something important to enhance your life experience. Thank yourself for taking this step!

Groups I Work With

I absolutely adore working with people going through transitional stages of life, whatever those may be. I take an attachment-based, relational approach to therapy for all ages. I primarily work with children (child-centered play therapy), adolescents (pre-teens and teens; middle and high school), and young adults (18-30). I find these are the ages where life transitions tend to be most prominent in affecting mental health.
