My Approach to Helping

I provide a warm and safe yet dynamic environment in which clients share their innermost thoughts, heal wounds, gain insight and learn to live with more confidence, humor and joy. As a supervising Licensed Psychologist with 20+ years of experience, I am able to quickly attune and put clients at ease. I am genuine, intentional and spontaneous in the room, which lends itself to a truly collaborative and growth-promoting experience. While treatment duration is need based, some positive change can be expected rapidly.

My specializations include all seasons of intimate relationships, dating, marriage, family, pregnancy and parenting concerns, Trauma-Informed Care following childhood or adult emotional, physical, sexual or narcissistic abuse or neglect, major depression, anxiety, dissociated states, self-abandonment and feelings of meaninglessness, higher education mental health, leadership development, and executive consulting. My experience as the Director of Fordham University’s Counseling & Psychological Services, President of the NYS Psychological Association’s Division of School Psychology, national presenter and board member gives me a unique lens through which to engage and assist medical professionals-doctors, executives, and industry leaders in addressing their mental health concerns.

My therapeutic approach is broadly psychodynamic yet integrative. I work closely with individuals and groups to address their concerns by understanding and transforming them within the context of their formative relationships while integrating techniques from diverse models to facilitate growth and healing. In addition to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, I have advanced training in Relational Psychotherapy, Bowenian Family Systems Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Intersubjective and Humanistic Psychotherapies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), play therapy, Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), The Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change (TTM) and Harm-Reduction for Addictions, higher education mental health, Threat Assessment (TA), consulting psychology, school psychological services, suicide prevention and postvention. My life-long exploration into global, intuitive, and somatic therapies has further shaped me. I welcome any questions about my practice or getting started.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

In addition to psychotherapy that is my heart-song, I am passionate about providing clinical supervision for mental health professionals. Ideas and techniques from multicultural, developmental, trauma-informed, psychodynamic, family-systems and evidence-based models will be woven into the fabric of the process that also privileges the therapist?s intuition and intersubjective interplay between clinician, client and supervisor.

As an experienced systems psychologist, I provide assistance with best practice, ethically, clinically and legally sound behavioral health policy and procedure development, case consultation, and management consulting for school, higher education, medical, and corporate professionals in the areas of behavioral health, organizational climate and safety.. All services are carefully customized to client needs.
