My Approach to Therapy
I am a mental health therapist with a Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in anxiety therapy, grief therapy, and trauma therapy, offering online therapy. I graduated with my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2008. I have eighteen years of experience providing counseling and psychotherapy. People often come in seeking anxiety therapy or grief therapy when they’re coping with fear, sadness, despair, or guilt. They may also seek help with depression, relationship challenges, work stress, sex concerns, or life transitions. Some come specifically for trauma therapy. I help clients connect to their feelings, build new ways of living with them, explore complex problems from new angles and generally create the life they want. Many people tell me that my sessions blend compassion, realness, humor and a nonjudgmental vibe. I work with clients practically and aspirationally, meeting them in the world as it is while moving toward a better future. While I’ll work with anyone, many queer people and men choose to work with me because I share those identities and bring that life experience into our work. Right now, I’m working with clients through online therapy, with the option of walk-and-talk sessions or ecotherapy, also known as nature therapy, when geography allows. Over the years, I’ve trained in emotion-focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), sensorimotor psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), behavior therapy, and ecotherapy, also known as nature therapy. I work with clients to tailor therapy to what works best for them.
If you’d like to get in touch, I generally respond fastest by email, but the phone works too. Thanks!
