What's My Approach to Therapy?
Everyone who pursues counseling does so for different reasons. Sometimes those reasons are apparent at the beginning of their counseling, but often additional or hidden reasons reveal themselves as the counseling relationship deepens and grows. It is a courageous act to seek counseling because it can be emotionally challenging to look at one's life, so I commend you for your willingness and fortitude in beginning this journey. Of course, there are significant payoffs as well:
Greater overall satisfaction with your life direction.
A greater sense of discovering your own inward power to act for the benefit of yourself and others.
A realization that you have more control of your personal destiny than you might have imagined.
My Practice & Services
At this point in time, I have chosen not to accept insurance. My reasons include maintaining your privacy from insurers' records, allowing maximum flexibility in choosing the therapist that is the best 'fit', and allowing you, the consumer, the greatest amount of freedom in dictating the duration and type of therapy utilized (both of these elements are very controlled by insurance companies, which limit the type of nature of treatment).
Because I have bypassed the insurance option, I utilize a very generous sliding scale fee structure, which makes my services extremely affordable.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Much of my work has addressed separation/divorce and life transitions because I have experienced both. I know the depth of sorrow that great life events can trigger, and understand how bumpy and uneven the road back to normalcy can sometimes be.
Although sometimes people are hesitant to see professional help, often it is critical they so so because their uncontrolled emotions greatly interfere with other parts of their lives.
While friends can prove invaluable in the short run, a person who is both trained in the field and has established a professional relationship with you, is invaluable staying on a healing path.
