My Approach to Helping
Although we all have inner strengths and resources, at certain times in our life, our problems become more than we can handle by ourselves. When you enter into a therapeutic relationship with a counselor, you enter a safe, non-judgmental space, that encourages you to reclaim these strengths and resources. We will work together to identify the changes in your life, that would assist you to become the best version of yourself that is possible and that honors you as an individual. It is truly an honor and privilege to sit beside and assist people as they begin their journey of change and growth. I look forward to hearing from you.
More Info About My Practice
I use a diverse range of interventions in my practice. These are the tools that will be used to facilitate change so that you can reach your therapeutic goals. Some of these include mindfulness and meditation which are immensely beneficial in changing thought patterns, mood and emotions. Through mindfulness and meditation we understand that only when we begin to live in the present moment can we touch and change our lives. I am excited to be among a select few licensed psychotherapist in Georgia who offer Energy Psychology. As an evidence based practice, Energy Psychology is a very effective tool that draws from Western techniques of psychotherapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy and positive affirmations. These techniques are given an extra "kick" by utilizing the Eastern practices that incorporate the subtle energies of the body including the acupuncture points of the meridian system. Interventions that use the meridian system and other subtle energy protocols have been validated in over 100 research studies as being effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions.
In 2019 my first book, Zenergy Mindfulness was released. This one of a kind self help book blends the protocols of Energy and Buddhist Psychology to help readers deepen their mindfulness practice.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
You want your therapy to be effective. I want your therapy to be effective. One of the most important indicators for effectiveness is your relationship with your therapist. You might consider if issues such as age, gender, or religious orientation are important to you when you choose a therapist. The style of the therapist is also important. Are they direct, give lots of advice or mostly listen and give feedback? What do you think you need? At Authentic-Life Counseling we offer free 15 minute consultations so you can get a sense of who we are. You can ask us any question about the process and we will help you determine if we are a good fit.
