My Approach to Therapy

My goal as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) is to help you get in the driver’s seat of your own life. A history of trauma, depression, anxiety, or attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD), coping with life changes, and dealing with the stress of relationships, family, work, school, and all the challenges that life throws at us can lead us to feel out of control and demoralized. I want to help you better understand yourself, your thoughts, and your mind, and teach you coping skills that empower you to live your healthiest, happiest life. I know there is no cookie-cutter approach to therapy, and I want to get to know you as an individual. My approach is trauma-informed, and I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing to help you overcome unhealthy patterns and feel more secure and confident. I know it can be intimidating to start therapy. I like to use humor and warmth to build a strong relationship based on mutual respect and understanding, so you feel comfortable sharing and being yourself. I hope I get a chance to get to know you, help you work through whatever difficulties you’re facing, and build a better life.

Groups I Work With

I specialize in working with people overcoming trauma, depression, and anxiety through individual therapy. My practice has a particular emphasis on women’s mental health issues, including postpartum depression, fertility issues, the transition to motherhood, menopause, gender-based discrimination, childhood trauma, and domestic violence. I am best positioned to serve people who want to build a healthy relationship with their therapist so we can work together to reduce the impact of trauma, anxiety, depression, and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) in their day-to-day lives and relationships. I love working with people who are ready to embrace a growth mindset and those who feel they can benefit from feminist, person-centered therapy. I have extensive training in evidence-based behavioral therapy interventions, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), that focus on building skills and improving the here and now.
