My Approach to Therapy

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 30 years of experience providing psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families. I work with children, adolescents, and adults to explore issues, develop effective coping skills, and improve overall well-being from a strength-based approach. Utilizing an eclectic approach to treatment, built on a solid foundation of empathy and trust, I connect with clients in a way that facilitates growth and change. My goal is to help you identify your goals in a meaningful way, facilitate forward movement in your life, and develop a fuller sense of self-acceptance. With an extensive background in trauma-informed treatment, I offer expertise in working with issues related to trauma, abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence. As an addiction specialist and Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)-approved provider, I can provide drug and alcohol evaluations, as well as recovery-focused treatment, to individuals dealing with substance use and addiction. Some of my other specialty areas of focus include working with first responders, other helping professionals, and caregivers. I have been very successful in helping couples sort through difficult relationship issues, gain clarity, and make decisions about their relationship. As a family systems-trained, Imago theory, strength- and resiliency-based therapist, my focus has been helping individuals, couples, and families deal with relationship conflict, infidelity, divorce, blended families, family of origin concerns, and other family issues. I connect well with and enjoy working with teens and young adults. I like helping others with life and career coaching, and I can provide services to employees as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider. I have extensive training and background in all aspects of human trafficking and domestic violence. I can help individuals struggling with trauma, abuse, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), as well as bereavement, grief and loss, anger management, and provide services as a Critical Incident Response (CIR) provider.
